Drawing Workshop: The Magic Line | Mike Barnard
Join Mike for this inspiring workshop drawing unique perspectives of nature.
Drawing a landscape can be daunting – or liberating! This 3-hour workshop is designed to help you (re)discover your artistic voice through a focus on line. Using a range of materials, Mike will guide you in a simple process from initial inspiration to finished work.
Who is it for:
This is a workshop for teens and adults of all levels – whether you are starting out, looking to find your artistic voice, or to extend your existing studio practice. Via a straightforward, structured approach together with personalised tips, Mike will guide you in:
exploring what truly captures your eye and imagination;
‘seeing’ nature as form, colour, texture, movement and light;
discovering how varying control of the drawn line can nurture your artistic voice;
experiencing the joy of mastering expressive line.
What you will get:
All materials are supplied.
You’ll leave with your own unique frame-ready drawing!
What to bring:
We’ll be working from photos as inspiration, so if you have a photo of a natural landscape that you’d like to base your drawing on, bring it along!

Terrarium workshop | Habitat Plant House
About the event
Learn the art of building a terrarium within a small, glass container. This workshop will go over the basics and necessities for constructing and understanding a terrarium, plant choices, and proper care. Attendees will get to build their very own terrarium and have fun meeting other plant nerds!

Pala is an amazing artist and has been teaching our Paper Creativity After School Art Class for Term 2. The kids have loved being able to explore the magic of paper and the many ways it can be transformed through Pala’s creative techniques and teachings.
This is a great opportunity to test out the class for Term 3 or just come along to play and create this school holidays.

We'll discuss the ethics, potential, and challenges of using AI in creative practice.

Introduction to Shibori and Indigo dyeing | Michele Elliot
Join Michele for this hands-on workshop to learn Shibori, the Japanese art of resist-dyeing.
Shibori means to bind, wring or squeeze. It encompasses a wide range of resist-dyeing techniques for embellishing cloth, It is a magical process and produces exquisite patterns.
You will learn a range of simple techniques that include folding, pleating and binding. Michele will guide you through these methods to create sample squares and a tote bag, after which you will transform your item with the magic of indigo.
This is an all levels class for adults, beginners are especially welcome!
What you will get:
All materials and tools are supplied.

What to bring:
An apron, cover shirt or wear old clothes as indigo can stain your clothes.
Comfortable, closed-in shoes.
A pair of rubber gloves (the washing-up kind, not the disposable ones).

Palestinian Embroidery Workshop: Tatreez
Palestinian Embroidery Workshop: Tatreez
Please join us in the spirit of community and sharing, as we explore the art of Tatreez.
This coming together is in honour of the Palestinian people, their heritage and their fight for freedom.
This workshop will be lead by Mariam Chanaoui, a multi-discplinary artist working on Gundungurra and Dharawal country. I delve into my Palestinian heritage during highschool and discovered Tatreez. At the time I found that I needed to be as much my own teacher and researcher. Fast forward, I furthered my education in a Bachelor of Creative Arts and now regularly deliver workshops in this ancient art.
The practice of Tatreez (Palestinian embroidery) originated in Palestine over 3,000 years ago. It is a unique form of embroidery that brings together coloured threads in various patterns to create traditional motifs. Motifs were area-specific, as well as symbolic of important events and everyday life such as a wedding or pregnancy, features of nature and more recently of freedom.
The afternoon will include
Story telling and sharing of the origins of Tatreez
A range of different designs and colours for different meanings and regions.

Ancient Art of Wax Carving and Sand Casting:
This immersive 5–6 hour workshop guides you through the process of carving your desired ring design from wax, creating a mould with Delft clay, and then melting and pouring metal into the mould to cast your piece.

Mindfulness and Embroidery
As we enter Spring, it's the perfect time for embracing change and reflection.

Palestinian Embroidery Workshop: Tatreez
Please join us in the spirit of community and sharing, as we explore the art of Tatreez.
This coming together is in honour of the Palestinian people, their heritage and their fight for freedom.
This workshop will be lead by Mariam Chanaoui, a multi-discplinary artist working on Gundungurra and Dharawal country. I delve into my Palestinian heritage during highschool and discovered Tatreez. At the time I found that I needed to be as much my own teacher and researcher. Fast forward, I furthered my education in a Bachelor of Creative Arts and now regularly deliver workshops in this ancient art.
The practice of Tatreez (Palestinian embroidery) originated in Palestine over 3,000 years ago. It is a unique form of embroidery that brings together coloured threads in various patterns to create traditional motifs. Motifs were area-specific, as well as symbolic of important events and everyday life such as a wedding or pregnancy, features of nature and more recently of freedom.
The afternoon will include
Story telling and sharing of the origins of Tatreez
A range of different designs and colours for different meanings and regions.

Ancient Art of Wax Carving and Sand Casting:
This immersive 5–6 hour workshop guides you through the process of carving your desired ring design from wax, creating a mould with Delft clay, and then melting and pouring metal into the mould to cast your piece.

This night is all about chill crafting and getting unfinished projects completed in a low-key social setting. This is a fortnightly event to bring your own creative project, or gain inspiration from others.

Join local fungi enthusiast Marita Smith to learn about the fantastic world of fungi and create some mushroom art!
We'll supply all materials and guide you through a range of fun fungi activities, including
printmaking/stamping with real mushrooms,

We'll have a variety of wild and cultivated fungi to provide inspiration and act as printing materials.
